Michael A. Nicklas, founder

Michael has worked in NYC's Silicon Alley as a technologist, entrepreneur and angel investor for fifteen years. He has helped companies including Viacom, IBM, Nielsen and Disney develop and deploy strategic technology initiatives. In addition to overseeing his investments and strategy consulting firm in NYC, Michael created SocialSmart in 2008 to focus exclusively on early-stage software investments in Latin America with an emphasis on Brazil.

Gilbert Alves Junior, partner

Gilberto has worked with and written about the Brazilian Internet market since 1999. Gilberto is a recognized leader in web 2.0 technologies and lectures frequently at conference (Imasters Intercon) companies (Microsoft) and universities (PUC-Campinas). Gilberto currently writes for Startupi.com.br and Webinsider.com.br and is responsible for strategy and operations at Amanaiê, SocialSmart's first investment in Brazil.
